Connecting Through Play
Through PLAY we develop resiliency, self confidence, social & problem solving skills, well-being, and a sense of calm. Play connects us to ourselves and each other and is a tremendous and fun way to increase relationships with your family. Our walls come down during play, and we can move and express ourselves in an authentic way, without fear of being judged. Come join Sarah and she delves into the science behind play, what happens in our brain during play, and how we can find connection through play.
The Need for Nature; How Time Outdoors Can Help Build Connection and Better Mental Health
Research shows that spending regular time in nature helps build kindness and compassion, improves social relationships, and helps you to become more creative, a better problem solver, have increased focus, and improve your ability to build resilience to handle stresses in your life. Join Sarah as she talks about the social, emotional and mental health benefits of spending time time and playing in nature. This active session will dive into the importance and impact of outdoor play and give hands-on knowledge about how to incorporate nature into your classrooms, programs and lives.
Rediscover Wildhood: How Unstructured Outdoor Play Helps Foster Healthy Child Development
Play is how children learn about themselves, and discoer the world around them, and their place in it. Unstructured, outdoor play is critical for children’s emotional, cognitive, and physical development. The natural world provides children with real-life experiences that include different sounds, smells, sights, ideas and ways of being that can never be replicated in an indoor environment. Our children’s wildhood and access to outdoor play is in jeopardy, but is more important than ever before. Join Sarah and she shows the importance of outdoor play, and how to bring more of it into your lives.
